Detailed Itinerary

Drive to remote Londorossi Gate on western side. Trek through pristine rainforest with abundant wildlife. Camp in forest clearing. (3-4 hours, 6 km, +650m)

Emerge from rainforest into spectacular moorland. Cross onto Shira Plateau with stunning panoramic views. (5-6 hours, 8 km, +750m)

Gentle traverse across beautiful Shira Plateau. Acclimatization hike to nearby viewpoints. Camp with views of Kibo's western face. (3-4 hours, 7 km, +350m)

Climb to Lava Tower for lunch and crucial acclimatization. Descend to Barranco Camp in Great Barranco Valley. "Climb high, sleep low" day. (6-8 hours, 10 km, +770m/-670m)

Conquer the thrilling Barranco Wall scramble. Traverse stunning alpine desert terrain with glacier views. Short acclimatization day. (4-5 hours, 5 km, +75m)

Ascend to base camp. Rest and summit preparations. (3-4 hours, 4 km)

Midnight summit attempt. Uhuru Peak at sunrise. Descend to Mweka Camp. (12-16 hours, 17 km)
