Detailed Itinerary
Arrive at Udzungwa Mountains National Park. Begin trek through tropical forest to stunning Sanje Waterfall (170m high). Watch for red colobus monkeys and mangabeys. Swim in natural pool at waterfall base. Packed lunch. Return to base. Camp or banda. (4-6 hours round trip)
Full day hiking Prince Bernhard Trail through pristine forest. Excellent primate viewing opportunities. Lunch at scenic viewpoint. Look for endemic birds. Return to camp. (6-8 hours)
Begin trek toward Mwanihana Peak (2,080m). Ascend through tropical forest into bamboo zone. Camp at Mwanihana Camp 1 at forest edge. Primate viewing throughout. (5-7 hours)
Early start to summit Mwanihana Peak. Spectacular views over Kilombero Valley and surrounding ranges. Descend all the way back to park gate. End of trek. (7-9 hours)
